'... I hope so anyway...’ (Judge Dread, 1975)
Not everybody knows that reggae was not born in the mid seventies, but in the late sixties.
Even less people know that the most successful period that reggae ever enjoyed was not in the late seventies, at the peak of Bob Marley’s popularity, but at the turn of the prevoius decade, when several reggae singles reached the #1 spot of the UK charts, and reggae was in the clubs and disco’s much more than what house, r'nb and hiphop are today.
40 years later that legacy is still intact. Great bands from all over the world reconnect with that tradition and make it live another life with their fresh, new insights.
‘The Spirit of 69’ is celebrated worldwide this year. And Reggae Recipe is gonna be part of it.
In Amsterdam. In september, when exactly 40 years ago reggae was king.
ENJOY!
